Run and Hide

Run and Hide

The moment MC Willybobz heard the horn line from Brazmatazz’s Misantropisch Zwemparadijs, he knew he had to sample it before someone else did. What initially started off as a remix however soon took on a life of its own, becoming its own fully-fledged track. The song signals a departure from Gamma Rave’s signature rap/rock/Drum&Bass style, with a more stripped back sound that leans heavily into jungle and dancehall with nods to dubstep and ska.

The subject matter is one of MC Willybobz’s favourites - the sinister side-effects of psychedelic drug use stemming from an 18th birthday party gone very wrong. Partnered with the music, the song contrasts the initial highs that can be obtained through substance abuse, as reflected in the song’s more laid-back verses, with the anxiety and paranoia that can very quickly take over, as represented by the chorus.

This all results in a track that’s bound to get you off your feet and onto the dancefloor!

The accompanying videoclip is a collage of fan submitted footage from gigs in Belgium and on our third UK tour; an impression of Gamma Rave’s highly energising live shows.
